```(84) :value2
```

Takes a specified number, variable, or equation and squares it (multiplies it by itself).

This command does not exist in TI-89; `^2` will have to be used instead.

• X2

## ExamplesEdit

• $9^2$
• The above equation would give you an answer of 81 because 9×9=81.
• $-4^2$
• The above equation would give you an answer of -16. Why? The reason is that the calculator performs powers before negation. It would perform $-(4^2)$, not $(-4)^2$.

• ^ - 2 is a shortcut for `^2`
