:dim(list)

This returns the length of a list.

(84) :number→dim(list)

This sets the length of a list. All added elements are set to 0. All removed elements are simply erased. This version of the command will not work in TI-89.

:dim(matrix)

This returns a 2-length list containing the dimensions of the matrix.

It does this by first obtaining the length of a list. It then increases that number by one. Then it stores that number as the list length.
