(89) :solve(equation,variable)

Using an equation with =, >, <, , , , this returns an expression containing the possible values of the variable, that will return true if the variable's value will make the equation true.

ExamplesEdit

:solve(x+2=0,x)

This returns x=-2.

:solve(x^2=4,x)

This returns x=-2 or x=2.

:solve(x^2<4,x)

This returns -2<x<2

:solve(x^2=-4,x)

This returns false, since no real value of x will make the equation true. To consider complex values, use cSolve(.

:solve(sin(x)=0,x)

This returns x=@n*π
